About IPMED Project :

There is a solid relationship between Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), research and innovation to constitute a fundamental pillar for knowledge-based economies.

IPR is a key element of the development and competitiveness of start-ups, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and entrepreneurs.

Recent studies on SMEs competitiveness and performance highlight that small firms owning IPR perform better than those who do not.

IPR can protect businesses from illegal copying of trademarks, designs and methods.

Intellectual Properties Capacities for Smart, Sustainable and Inclusive Growth in the Mediterranean Region” Project (IPMED) was launched in February 2020 to build Intellectual Properties capacities and Enterpreneurship with a total of 1.194 million Euros funded by the European Union through the Cross-Border Cooperation Programme for the Mediterranean Basin within the European Neighborhood Instrument (ENI CBCMED).

Jordan is leading the implementation of IPMED through Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO) in partnership with organizations in Greece, Italy, Spain and Tunisia.

IPMED will support start-ups women and young entrepreneurs and micro, small and medium enterprises by:

Offering online and onsite tailored training courses.

Providing personalized IP and innovation related services.

Enabling access to virtual library highlighting good practices in IPR.

IPMED will submit a series of recommendations to public authorities and policy-makers for aligning national IPR policies with international best practices; thereby facilitating policy dialogue with relevant stakeholders to work on specific recommendations to that end, thus improving the business environment for SMEs and start-ups.

 Who will benefit?
  • 200 young and women entrepreneurs.
  • 40 micro, small and medium enterprises.
  • 100 staff from chambers of commerce, innovation agencies, ministries, IP offices and innovation brokers.

Mediterranean MSMEs will become more competitive and able to engage in technology transfer, collaborative research and innovation activities at the local, national and transnational levels which lead to increase the efficiency of these enterprises and accordingly creating new job opportunities and improving the living standards.
