Providing technical and financial support to small-scale farmers (closed)

Service

Providing technical and financial support to small-scale farmers, farmers’ associations and manufacturers and exporters of agricultural products.

The service offers beneficiaries the following:

  • Value-chain and project development support: At an individual level, participating farmers will be assisted to improve their technical and practical skills, whilst at a sectoral level, an environment that encourages collaboration, association and group building to lower marketing costs and improve the value chain of their products will be fostered .
  • Rural finance: financing requirements will be supported through the Development and Employment Fund and microfinance institutions, under the supervision of JEDCO.

Target segments

Small-scale farmers

  • Rural families without a stable source of income, employed members or any other economic activities.
  • Rural families with employed members, but whose income is insufficient to meet their needs.

Farmers’ associations, manufacturers and exporters of agricultural products.

Support Organizations

  • The National Center for Agricultural Research and Extension: agricultural development and consultancy services.
  • The Development and Employment Fund: Rural finance provision.
  • Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization: assistance in attaining the Global Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) certificate
  • The Jordan Exporters and Producers Association for Fruit and Vegetables: assistance in marketing beneficiaries’ products through study tours, trade fairs and contract farming arrangements.

Eligibility requirements

Small-scale farmers:

  1. The project must be in operation.
  2. The project must be in the agricultural sector.
  3. The project must provide job opportunities for women and youth.
  4. The project must adhere to the conditions and requirements of the bodies responsible for the execution of the project.
  5. The project’s work and activities must be completed either on an individual or group basis.
  6. Agriculture must be the primary source of income for the family.

Farmers’ associations, and manufacturers and exporters of agricultural products:

  1. The project must be in operation
  2. The project must be in the agricultural sector.
  3. The project must provide job opportunities for women and youth.
  4. The project must adhere to the conditions and requirements of the bodies responsible for the execution of the project.
  5. The company must be registered at the Ministry of Industry and Trade (Commercial record / Companies Control register)

Required Documents

  • Proof of place of residence.
  • Proof of ownership/rental of agricultural land.
  • Proof of work in the agricultural sector.

Service Delivery Procedures

  1. Financing opportunities: provided subject to the conditions and requirements of the Development and Employment Fund.
  2. Agricultural extension and consultancy: provided based on the conditions and requirements of The National Center for Agricultural Research and Extension.
  3. Assistance in acquiring the Global Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) certificate: provided subject to the conditions and requirements of Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization.
